12 Monkeys Recap: Arms of Mine
“12 Monkeys” Season 1 Episode 13 “Arms of Mine” aired last Friday, Apr. 10, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. on SyFy. In the season finale, as James Cole (Aaron Stanford) and Dr. Cassandra Reilly (Amanda Schull) race against time to locate the witness. It led to a final confrontation with Jose Ramse (Kirk Avecedo), Dr. Katarina Jones (Barbara Sukowa) faced a new threat to the facility in 2043. Meanwhile, other forces began to play their hand, unseen and unnoticed, in order to destroy all humanity as it was known. Read on to learn more about this episode.
In 2043, Dr. Katarina Jones (Barbara Sukowa) wondered why red plants were growing on the chair in the middle of the machine. Meanwhile, Jose Ramse (Kirk Acevedo), in 2015, stared at the blueprints of Project Splinter’s machine.
Meanwhile, in 2015, James Cole (Aaron Stanford) tortured Aaron Marker (Noah Bean), with the approval of Dr. Cassandra “Cassie” Reilly (Amanda Schull). He did it in order to learn the identity of those involved with the army of the twelve monkeys. Aaron then told them that he had only talked to one of the key investors of Markridge, a woman, who talked about “the coming of the twelve”, and who was also investing in a project that would create a facility where they could hide and survive the virus. He then broke out of his bonds. He tried to escape by burning Cole and ended up getting engulfed in flames himself.
In 2043, Deacon (Todd Stashwick), informed the army of pale men that they would have to enter through the exhaust tunnels. In order to get inside and to help them out, he and a scientist from Spearhead released a truckload of bats that were attracted to the core. The bats then blocked the exhaust fan. It caused the core to overheat and caused the entire grid to fail. Whitley (Dremore Barnes) then got ready to protect Jones and the other scientist. Jones, who said that she had failed, began to rig the machine with bombs.
In 2015, at a local diner, Cole apologized to Cassie, who decided to focus on their mission instead. They then discovered that Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire) was the new CEO of Markridge and attended her event, in which she gave the keynote address. After telling everyone that she was going to start cloning animals, Cassie and Cole confronted her. As per her instructions, Jennifer told them that her silent investor was Ethan Seki, who was none other than Ramse. She then told them that Ramse was obsessed with the Raritan Valley project, which was Project Splinter. Cole then realized that Ramse, who was now growing impatient as the cycle was about to be completed, was going to destroy the machine.
At Raritan Valley, Dr. Jones (Peter Outerbridge) began to test the machine out by sending plants into the future. Afterward, he sent everyone out and left Ramse with the machine, as he had paid him to have unauthorized access to the machine.
Meanwhile, Cole and Cassie entered the facility through the exhaust tunnels and decided to split up to locate the machine. Cassie then slowed down after entering a room full of red plants, which mirrored the vision of the red forest that she had seen when she had been abducted by Olivia (Alisen Down).
Cole, on the other hand, managed to reach Ramse, and threatened to shoot him. He couldn’t believe that he was going to destroy humanity for the sake of his son. Ramse then made Cole realize that he had been going back to 2015 in order to be with Cassie, and not to save the world. However, before anything else could happen, Cassie entered, called Ramse “The Witness”, which Ramse denied, and shot him. However, as she shot Ramse, Ramse’s bodyguard shot Cassie in the stomach. Ramse then pushed a red briefcase containing one of Jones’ injections and told Cole to send Cassie to the future, where Katarina could save her. He then told Cole to tell his son that he tried before Cole ran out of the facility.
Meanwhile, Olivia commented that the cycle had been completed. She also discovered that the twelve babies were now ready for a whole new cycle to begin. She also said that Ramse would be found dead the next day and that Cole would disappear into obscurity.
However, Cole defied this by going back into the facility so that he could save Ramse’s life.
Meanwhile, Jennifer had her private plane loaded with Markridge containers, as she prepared to take a trip to twelve different major cities.
In 2043, Jones surrendered her detonator to the army of the twelve pale men, whose leader commented that the cycle was now complete. They then let Whitley and the other scientist go. Before they could take Jones away, they became surprised as Cassie appeared in the chair, as she had survived the trip from 2015 to 2043.
