2015 MAMA Awards: BigBang And EXO In A Close Fight! Who Will Win The Game?
Two of the most talked-about Korean male groups, Bigbang and EXO, have made it to the top and have been competing to multiple same categories since day one. Who deserves to win in the upcoming 2015 MAMA Awards? Read On!
In less than a month, 2015 MAMA Awards will once again name the artists who dominated the charts and hearts of the public, and two of them are in a close fight! BigBang and EXO are currently having a clear competition in multiple same categories!
According to KPop Starz, both artist from YG Entertainment and SM Entertainment are in a strong lead over the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) key categories which includes the Artist of the Year.
In MAMA’s website, it shows both male group are equally dominating the categories that they’ve been competing for and as of writing, EXO is in the top spot in the Best Male Group with a total vote of 5,106,927/30.6% while BigBang has a total vote of 5,019,919/30.1%.
In addition to this, in Oupu Best Dance Performance Male Group, EXO once again beat BigBang with their “Call Me Baby” song having 5,422,570/32.5% votes whereas BigBang’s “Bang Bang Bang” song only got 5,000,309/30% votes.
However, when it comes to UnionPay Artist of the Year, BigBang was able to strike back with 5,329,373/28.1% votes while EXO garnered 5,038,391/26.6% votes—CNBlue’s Jung Yong Hwa is in the third place, Super Junior as a fourth placer and last but not the least, BTS got the fifth place.
Moreover, “Bang Bang Bang” (5,622,048/29.7%) is currently leading the UnionPay Song of the Year category followed by “Call Me Baby” (5,158,200/27.2%).
KPop Starz noted that fans should keep in mind that there are other factors to be consider in each categories to determine the winners.
Based on the report, this year, the organizers of the said event were made transparent when it comes to their release of chart where fans can see the percentage breakdown for the awards. MAMA also revealed the professions of each judges who are involved in the voting process—it includes professional critics, songwriters, journalists, concert organizers and other individuals who are familiar in the Korean entertainment industry.
On the other hand, for the judging criteria, here’s what should be considered:
For the UnionPay Artist of the Year: 20 percent will be in the online voting, research and the MAMA professional panels’ 10 percent will be in the record sales and the MAMA selection committee.
For the Song of the Year, meanwhile, 10 percent for online votes, 20 percent will come from social media impact or research and to the MAMA professional panel, 30 percent will come from music sales and 10 percent will be from record sales and the MAMA selection committee.
