’21 Jump Street’ is Getting A Reboot and A Crossover with ‘Men in Black’

It looks like “21 Jump Street” has become such a success that the film is getting a spinoff and a crossover with “Men in Black.” Does this mean fans can no longer expect a “23 Jump Street” from happening? Read on to learn more about this scoop.

Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to light in the movies, it seems like more and more outlets are considering crossovers such as the Transformers Cinematic Universe. It seems, though, that crossovers weren’t exclusive to comic-based movies, as The Hollywood Reporter confirmed about the news.

According to the outlet, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will be back to reprise their roles in the “21 Jump Street” and “Men in Black” crossover film. The news outlet, however, has not given any details about the movie, cast, plot, and if this crossover film would be titled, “23 Jump Street.”

While details about the upcoming crossover between both movies have not yet been released, Sony Pictures has also confirmed that “21 Jump Street” is getting an all-female cast. What? No Channing Tatum or Jonah Hill in here? Yes, much like Sony Pictures did with the “Ghostbusters” movie, “21 Jump Street” will be getting a female-centric spinoff.

Comedy Central’s “Broad City” writers Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs will be penning the script. The cast to take over the roles of Tatum and Hill in the movie has not yet been announced, but Screen Crush explored the possibility of getting a Fugazy spinoff in the female-driven “21 Jump Street.”

Fugazy was Tatum and Hill’s rival undercover cop played by “Fifty Shades Darker” actress Dakota Johnson. It would make sense for Sony Pictures to take Johnson’s popularity as a way to promote this spinoff movie, especially after the success of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Will “21 Jump Street” all-female cast be successful? It’s still unsure, as the all-female “Ghostbusters” movie has not yet been released, but how the movie would fare when it gets released could become a gauge for Sony Pictures to determine if this spinoff would be a success.
