The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations List [WATCH VIDEO]

Great morning at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences headquarters in North Hollywood. On Thursday, July 10, 2014,  the hosts of the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project”)  and  Carson Daly (“The Voice”) revealed the nominees while Television Academy chairman/CEO Bruce Rosenblum joined them on stage.  Read on to learn more about the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards nominees.

HBO rules the nominations with 99 total nods, propped up by the great performance of new drama “True Detective” and the movie “The Normal Heart.” CBS follows with 47 nominations, NBC with 46, FX with 45 and ABC with 37.


HBO’s “Game of Thrones” is leading with 19  nominations, followed by FX’s “Fargo” with 18 nominations, “American Horror Story: Coven” with 17 nominations, AMC’s “Breaking Bad” with 16 nominations and HBO’s “The Normal Heart ,” both with 16 nominations.

Amongst broadcast fare, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” is leading with 14 total picks, while ABC’s “Modern Family” and NBC’s “The Voice” received 10 nods each.

This year’s newcomers  include Lizzy Caplan (“Masters of Sex”), Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones”), Matt Bomer (“The Normal Heart”), Gary Cole  (“Veep”), Colin Hanks (“Fargo ”)  Allison Tolman (“Fargo”),  Natasha Lyonne  (“Orange Is the New Black ”) and Joe Morton (“Scandal”).

In addition to “Fargo,” other new shows that have done quite well include FOX’s “Cosmos,” Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black,” and HBO’s “True Detective” — each amassing 10 nominations. Streaming service Netflix scored 31 nominations.
