Actor Tye Sheridan Reveals How Different His Cyclops Is in “X-Men: Age of Apocalypse”

When it comes to the “X-Men,” one would think of the likes of Professor X, Magneto, Storm, Wolverine, Jean Gray, Rogue, Mystique and the de facto leader of the group, and Professor X’s second in command, Cyclops, otherwise known as Scott Summers. This character, for the longest time, has been portrayed by James Marsden in the previous “X-Men” films. However, in the prequel films, especially in the upcoming “X-Men: Age of Apocalypse” film, fans of the character and of the “X-Men” will get a treat as the up-and-coming young actor Tye Sheridan, will be portraying the younger iteration of the iconic character. Recently, Sheridan managed to give an interview in which the young actor shared what he thinks is the difference in his portrayal of the iconic Cyclops. Read on to learn more about this story.

Cyclops, otherwise known as Scott Summers, in “X-Men” lore, is the de facto leader of the “X-Men” team. He is considered, most of the time, as Professor X’s right-hand man.

This iconic character has many facets to it, and his character, seemingly, in the comic book world, has taken a turn for the worse. It was after the events of the event “AvX: Avengers vs. X-Men” in which Cyclops, along with some other mutants, allowed the Dark Phoenix Force to take over their bodies in a bid to create a better world for the mutants.

However, when it comes to the films, the iconic character has been portrayed by the Marsden, who took on the mantle of the superhero for “X-Men”, “X2: X-Men United” and “X-Men: The Las Stand.” However, now that the prequel films for the franchise are being made, the role of the younger Cyclops has now been taken by Sheridan. His film credits include “The Tree of Life” and “The Stanford Prison Experiment.”

Recently, in an interview with Indiewire, the young actor dished about his wonder at getting this role and talked about how different his iteration of Cyclops will be.

Sheridan, during the interview, expressed his amazement and wonder at being able to be in an “X-Men” film. He told Indiewire that he couldn’t believe that he was filming with an actor he greatly admired-James McAvoy, who portrays Charles Xavier, or Professor X. He also went on to say that he had felt a sort of “thrill.” It was during the time he first entered the “X-Men” mansion and stood right in front of the “X” on the lobby floor.

With regards to his version of Cyclops, he mentioned that this Cyclops isn’t the Cyclops that’s ready to wear the suit and lead the team to victory. Instead, his Cyclops or Scott Summers will be a little bit more confused and “angry.” He is still finding out much about himself, and his place in the mutant world, and in the world.
