The Age of Adeline Flows Through Time – Movie Review
Blake Lively blends perfectly into the character of Adaline Bowman. “The Age of Adaline” is produced by Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment. Summit entertainment acquired the rights for the US distribution. The film is directed by Lee Toland Krieger and written by J. Mills Goodloe and Salvador Paskowitz.
“The Age of Adaline” is a story of a woman who becomes immortal after an accident. Her age freezes at 29. She wanders for a long time until she is 107 and meets a man in an elevator on New Year’s Eve in a typical romantic fashion. She realizes that this could be the man she might consider losing her immortality for.
Lively, popularly known for her role in “GOSSIP GIRL’”looks elegant, and her poise does justice to the character. The role was initially offered to Katherine Heigl way back in 2010 and after she turned it down, it was offered to Natalie Portman. She too was unable to do the film and so it was finally Lively who gave a positive response to the role.
The story drifts through time and focuses on the growth of the character across time. Adaline is a quintessential woman who has multiple romantic encounters in her tenure of immortal life. She keeps sneaking out on them without explanation. She constantly shifts base whenever necessary. Adaline’s life is very lonely but she seems to be very comfortable in it. The movie focuses on one of her old love played by Harrison Ford. Ford portrays the character impeccably, this could be one of his best performances so far, while Michiel Huisman who plays Ellis (Adaline’s present Day love interest) is not very convincing. He does not surface more than just a handsome man in the movie.
In the larger purview of the film “The Age of Adaline” is very subtle and graceful unlike today’s loud and studio-built content. It surely deserves a watch.
“The Age of Adaline” released on Friday 24th April,2015.
