With one more episode left until the winter finale, the promotional video and sneak peak for the upcoming episode promises a lot of action and excitement as HYDRA leader Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) and S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) finally settle things between each other in an epic showdown. WARNING: This article will contain spoiler for “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” season three, and specifically for the episode entitled “Closure.”
Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), is no doubt a formidable foe, especially within the universe of MARVEL’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” especially now as the current HYDRA leader is preparing to come at S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) in full force, which, of course, serves to HYDRA’s advantage, especially if Coulson is taken out of the picture.
However, one must not forget that there are quite a number of people within S.H.I.E.L.D., and most of Coulson’s main team- Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennett), Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), Agent Leo Fitz (Iain de Caestecker), Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Agent Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse (Adrienne Palicki) and Agent Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), who have a personal score to settle with him.
This of course, is well illustrated in the promotional video and sneak peak that was just recently shared by Spoiler TV.
The promotional video previews an all out war between the forces of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Grant Ward, with Ward telling Gideon Malick (Powers Booth), that he would be able to anticipate Coulson’s moves as he knows him very, very well.
After several fight and action sequences, Ward, ready with a sniper gun, got a call from Coulson, who taunted him to “get him”.
Coulson is also heard saying throughout the video that in this war, in order to finally defeat Ward once and for all, that there will be some invisible lines that he would have to cross, even though he shouldn’t be doing so, as he is the current director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The sneak peek is a little bit quieter, as it features Coulson talking to Daisy, the one person that Ward truly cared about in S.H.I.E.L.D.
During their conversation, Daisy told Coulson that Ward had never lied to her, and she could see how he could easily get drawn into HYDRA under John Garrett’s influence, as their childhood backgrounds were quite similar, and compared getting drawn into HYDRA’s influence to how she was almost totally drawn into her own mother’s philosophies with regards to Inhuman and human interactions.
However, Daisy made it perfectly clear that she would never be able to forgive him for everything that he had done as an agent of HYDRA.
However, the excitement and fun will not just end with the upcoming episode, as the winter finale, which will air on December 8, as according to Clark Gregg, who recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly, the winter finale will be even bigger and will contain more revelations that last year’s winter finale.
