Amal Alamuddin-Clooney Looks Bored at the 2015 Golden Globes
Having recently married the undeniably beautiful and smart Amal Alamuddin-Clooney, it was only natural that George Clooney would take his wife as his date to the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards last Jan. 11, 2015. How did the brilliant Human Rights lawyer enjoy the show? Read on to learn more about the details.
According to U.S. Magazine, stars flooded in the massive Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Surrounded by A-listers such as Oprah, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez and many more, swarmed the hotel as they made their way to the annual event.
With his statuesque spouse on his arm, the cameras couldn’t help but take photos of George Clooney and his wife, Amal. Considering this was the Clooney’s first red carpet and Hollywood event as husband and wife, it was only fair that the spotlight highlighted the attendance of such a brilliant woman such her. In true Hollywood fashion, Mrs. Clooney was welcomed by the event’s hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler with a carefully sought out joke targeted at her husband.
On their opening monologue, the comedic duo praised Alamuddin for her tremendous accomplishments; especially in the field of international justice.
“George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year. Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, with Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a 3 person UN commission investigating Rules of war violations in the Gaza strip… so tonight, her husband is getting a Lifetime Achievement Award.”
Known for her reserved personality, she managed to crack a slight smile at the welcoming joke. Meanwhile, Clooney laughed in delight at how proud he was of his wife’s achievements.
Sadly, this was probably the only time that she enjoyed the night. After putting up with Ryan Seacrest’s overly ridiculous questions earlier on the red carpet about her gloves and the Game Over t-shirt they received as a wedding gift, it was probably a reason as to why Amal kept to herself throughout the night and appeared uninterested.
Despite her attempts to smile and laugh to show she was having a good time, the camera caught a number of instances. Right now, Amal looked bored and like she would rather be somewhere else.
While she did enjoy the earlier joke, it does point out the reality that the Golden Globes tends to look at men and women as if they were objects. And with this, Hollywood manages to erase the other credentials of the individual that truly matter in real life. Would you rather be awarded a humanitarian award or as the best dressed of the night?
To be fair, she did lighten up when her husband took the stage for an award he received. Especially with a speech directed at her, Amal couldn’t help but gaze at her husband with adoration.
“It’s a humbling thing to find someone you love. Even better if you’ve been waiting your whole life. And when your whole life is 53 years. Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be prouder to be your husband.”
