Is Amy Adams too Old to Play Lois Lane?
Oscar-nominated starlet Amy Adams will play Lois Lane in Zach Synder’s (Watchmen, 300) much talked about reboot of the Superman series, Superman: Man of Steel. While there isn’t much doubt that Adams can have success in the role as Superman’s main squeeze (if anything, she’s too good for the role), many believe that the 36-year-old is simply too old to play the girlfriend to 27-year-old Henry Cavill’s Superman/Clark Kent.
“If Superman is looking for cougar, he found it in Amy Adams,” said one movie journalist on Twitter. “I’s rather see Mila Kunis as Lois Lane, not Adams. Mila has reverse heat vision.”
Others seemed more concerned over her hair color.
“Will she be the first red-head Lois Lane or will she dye her hair black for the role?” asked one fan on Twitter.
“There was a big, giant search for Lois,” says Synder to the LA Times. “For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”
Superman: Man of Steel begins filming in the fall of 2010 with a release pointing to Christmas 2012.
