Angelina Jolie Is Smug About Her Cancer Surgery, Says Columnist Katie Hopkins
Controversial columnist and Celebrity Big Brother star Katie Hopkins doesn’t believe Angelina Jolie made a brave choice with her cancer surgery. The media personality dissed her on social media, calling out Jolie for being smug about her choice.
“Angelina Jolie. Smug doesn’t even come close. Curating her organs to maximize life expectancy. What’s next fag ash lil? Your lungs?” wrote Hopkins on her Twitter account. She then proceeded to post a photo of the Hollywood star who is smoking a cigarette, pointing out how the tar will eventually poison the actress’ lungs.
Of course, Hopkins received much backlash from dissing Jolie among netizens on the social media site. But she relentlessly defended her stand.
Just a few weeks ago, Hopkins also figured in a social media war with other users for her comments against Kelly Clarkson’s weight. The Sun and Now! Magazine columnist said that the former American Idol, who recently guested on “The Graham Norton Show” in the U.K. was no longer carrying baby weight as she has grown bigger after giving birth.
A friend and colleague of Hopkins, Phillip Schofield, said that she’s actually “likeable off air,” but agreed that the Celebrity Big Brother star does come off strong in her social media posts sometimes. This is, apparently, Hopkins’ brand of talk, but a lot her audience and other media outlets have now branded the media personality as a troll.
Angelina Jolie’s decision to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed following a cancer scare was done after her double mastectomy two years ago. Both times, the actress revealed her experience by writing an opinion piece on the New York Times. The actress said that this was the best option for her as three women in her family died from the disease.
“I know my children will never have to say, ‘Mom died of ovarian cancer,'” the actress wrote in her op-ed piece.
Jolie is widely praised for her brave decision, with other celebrities commending her for bringing the issue to light. Ovarian and breast cancer are two rising killer diseases among women and her preventive measures is increasingly raising awareness.
