John Washington was blessed with the ability to penetrate people’s memories. Sebastian gave John an assignment, and that was to find out what was going on in Anna’s mind. Anna, like John, also has a gift. She could tell what others would say.
Things were a bit different in Anna’s mind. The Waltons were not her family. Her memories were strange and violent. Anna witnessed her stepfather having sex with Judith (Indira Varma). Judith was in charge to watch over Anna in the cameras installed in their house.
The questions about Anna’s involvement in several crimes multiplied. Did she push Judith? Was she responsible for the attempted homicide of three girls in her school?
As of this writing, the critics in the Rotten Tomatoes has given this film a 33%, while only 44% of the moviegoers liked it.
Perhaps the movie could possibly go well, except that, as Variety’s Ella Taylor put it, if only they did not stretch film, repetitively telling the audience what was already shown.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Holland of the Hollywood Reporter wrote in his review that, as a thriller, the film was okay. He also mentioned that there was nothing special about the concept of the film, and it failed to embark on a new path of its own.
“An over-the-top B-movie concept., a satisfyingly twisty plotline and an intriguing central tandem are the hallmarks of a sharp-witted film that delivers all the traditional elements but which lacks the flair factor,” added Holland in the Hollywood Reporter article.
