Annayum Rasoolum Movie Review
Annayum Rasoolum is an Indian feature film in Malayalam language. It is directed by Rajeev Ravi and features Fahadh Fazil, Andrea Jeremiah, Aashiq Abu, and Sunny Wayne. It is said to be one of the best Malayalam movies to be released in recent time. It is a simple love story that is heartwarming and realistic.
The story is not out of the ordinary but the treatment and narration make Annayum Rasoolum stand out from the rest. Regular daily events are showed in a beautiful manner to make the viewing experience memorable and enjoyable. The dialogue, accent, and lifestyle are typical of people in Kochi. Cinematographer Madhu Neelakantan captures the scene masterfully. Krishna Kumar provides world class music.
On the downside, Annayum Rasoolum is too long with a 3 hour runtime. It could have benefited from further editing to cut some scenes out of the movie. The good thing is that the story is easy to relate to. The cast members perform well. The few romantic sequences from the leads are good even though they don’t have a lot of dialogues between them. The movie doesn’t become too melodramatic.
Rasool (Fahadh Fazil) is a taxi driver who lives in Mattancherry. His brother Haider (Ashiq Abu) works at the local ferry. Their father lives in Ponnanni with his second wife. Anna Josephina (Andrea Jeremiah) is a sales girl from Ernakulam. The two fall for each other. But things turn ugly when Rasool finds out that Anna is the sister of a long time enemy.
Fahadh Fazil and Andrea Jeremiah are brilliant in Annayum Rasoolum. Their facial expressions and body language show how their characters feel for each other and the situation they find themselves in. Annayum Rasoolum is a must watch. You’ll feel refreshed and contented 3 hours after you enter the cinema.
