Arnold Schwarzenegger on Marriage Counseling: ‘The Biggest Mistake I’ve Ever Made’

Arnold Schwarzenegger talked about the collapse of his marriage to Maria Shriver, on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The action star revealed that the split was the biggest setback and failure. Read for more details.

According to Extra, he former governor and action star revealed the reason behind his previous marriage, to Howard Stern on SiriusXM on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.


“This was without any doubt the biggest setback and the biggest failure,” Schwarzenegger said about the split of the relationship with his wife Maria, television journalist and niece of President John F. Kennedy.

“Not only failure, but you really feel like, ‘I am to blame for it. It was me that screwed up.’ You can’t point the finger at anyone else,” added the 67-year-old Schwarzenegger.

The “Terminator Genisys” star also revealed that the couple tried marriage counseling to save their relationship.

“It was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made because that guy was so full of s**t.” Schwarzenegger confessed.

Arnold said that he was met with nonsense talk during the counseling. He also added that he knew that he was the one who screwed up, and that he does not have to let others explain him anything. He further added, “I apologized to Maria. I apologized to the kids and then tried to move forward.”

Schwarzenegger said that he was surprised and happy when Shriver and his children had sent balloons and gifts, while he was promoting his latest movie overseas. He further explained that wife, kids, and people around them were helpful. It was apart from his struggle in trying to repair his relationship with his family. He also added that his “family is now in a much better place” and he was fortunate to have “really great, great kids.”

Arnold has four children with Shriver. Their children include 25-year-old Katherine, 23-year-old Christina, 21-year-old Patrick, and 17-year-old Christopher. He also has a 17-year-old son Joseph with his housekeeper, Mildred Patricia ‘Patty’ Baena.

Schwarzenegger is very happy for the failure of his divorce, and the success in repairing his relationship with his family.
