‘Arrow’ Alumni Headed to ‘Chicago Med’

Tommy Merlyn is sorely missed on the CW’s “Arrow,” but fans of the character’s actor, Colin Donnell, will be pleased to learn that the actor will once more grace the small screen in a more realistic drama, and is on his way to Chicago’s Emergency Room. According to Deadline, Donnell has just been added to the ever growing cast of the latest “Chicago” spin-off, “Chicago Med.” Read on to learn more about this story.

According to Deadline, Donnell will be joining an ever expanding cast on “ChicagoMed”, the latest installment in the also ever growing Dick Wolf “Chicago” franchise, which has already garnered a thirteen episode order.

Although the specifics are not clear and finalized yet, it seems like Donnell will be portraying a pediatrics doctor. Apparently, Donnell has been in Dick Wolf’s sights ever since the conception of “Chicago PD”, as Wolf had wanted him to be part of the show.

Donnell has also been in other shows that have been or will air on NBC, such as Debra Messing’s “The Mysteries of Laura,” and had a leading role the pilot of “Love is a Four Letter Word”, where, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he appeared alongside other cast members from “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago PD.”

Aside from “Arrow”, he has also appeared on “The Affair” and “Pan Am”.

Donnell, who is billed as a series regular, is the latest addition to a cast ensemble which includes Yaya Dacosta, who portrays April Sexton, a doctor and an old friend of “Chicago Fire’s” Liuetenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney);  S. Epatha Merkerson, who will portray Sharon Goodwin, the head of the hospital itself; Oliver Platt, who portrays the head of the Psychiatry Department; Nick Gehlfuss, who portrays the brother of “Chicago PD” Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Laurie Holden, who portrays an Emergency Room Surgeon.

And that was all for the update on the latest addition to “ChicagoMed.” For more news, updates, spoilers and recaps on “ChicagoMed” and other television shows, keep on following Movie News Guide (MNG).
