Aside from this, executive producer Wendy Mericle shared two pieces of information that have to do with Felicity, and with Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) trying his best to balance out his superhero and public personas. WARNING: This article will contain spoilers regarding the upcoming fourth season, and in particular, will contain spoilers regarding Felicity, Oliver, and the missing in action Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh). Read on to learn more about the fourth season of “Arrow”.
The CW superhero shows, “Arrow” and “The Flash” will be returning to the small screen on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, and on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, respectively, thus ending months of speculation from fans and viewers of either show.
In line with this, according to Carter Matt, the CW has released a new trailer entitled “Aim Higher.” It did not only highlights the action sequences that will be seen in season four, but highlights Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) team of superheroes, who are now better than before.
The promotional video features glimpses of Black Canary or Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), Thea Queen as Speedy (Willa Holland), and even Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) in action, as the computer whiz is seen firing at her enemies with a machine gun.
The clip also shows Captain Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) admonishing Oliver, as he blames Oliver, as the Arrow, for allowing “monsters” and villains to creep into their city.
Oliver then goes on to make a speech, in which he promises to forever lend hope to the city.
A clip of the season’s biggest villain, Damien Dahrk (Neal McDonough) is also seen at a meeting, where he delivers an ominous and threatening statement.
Damien Dahrk, aside from being one of the season’s main villains, has been said to be one of the worst villains that Team Arrow will have to face, and one of the most challenging ones that Oliver will be facing as, according to Wendy Mericle’s interview with Entertainment Weekly, he will not just be going against him as the Green Arrow, but as Oliver Queen as well.
This is also one way that the writers and showrunners would be able to push Oliver to reconcile his public and superhero persona, and finally step into the limelight.
However, Mericle also teased, in an interview with TV Line, that they have more surprises up their sleeves, such as the fact that Felicity will be relieved to discover that everyone’s favorite Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), did not truly perish in the explosion that happened in the previous season.
Fans of Oliver and Felicity won’t have anything to worry about, though, not like last time, as Felicity finally realized that she liked Ray as a good friend, and not as her boyfriend.
