‘Assassin’s Creed’ Movie News and Cast Updates: Ariane Labed to Play Alongside Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard
“Assassin’s Creed: The Movie” has added another actress to star in the movie adaptation of one of the most successful video games in history. Ariane Labed will be joining Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in the movie adaptation of Ubisoft’s video game. What role will she play? Read on to learn more about this scoop.
“Assassin’s Creed” movie is slowly but surely progressing. After what seems to be quite a long wait for the movie adaptation of the Ubisoft video game to finally take place, another actress has been announced to star in the upcoming film. French actress Ariane Labed will be joining the cast of the movie, Deadline reported.
Labed has played various roles before landing her first mainstream film, “Assassin’s Creed: The Movie.” The 31-year-old actress has starred in the movie, “Attenberg,” which has earned her the title of Best Actress in Venice in 2010. She was also hailed as the Best Actress in the Locarno awards in 2014 for her performance in “Fidelio, Alice’s Odyssey.”
Labed’s role in “Assassin’s Creed” movie remains unknown, however, the role was initially being coveted by another actress, Alicia Vikander. According to the outlet, Vikander was initially in talks to star in the movie adaptation, but the actress had a hard time juggling between the live-action movie and her role in the upcoming “Jason Bourne” installment.
Why is everyone’s role being kept from the public?
It may be due to the fact that Ubisoft and New Regency would like to keep the plot details a secret for now. As previously reported, producer Frank Marshall played around with words and hinted that the “Assassin’s Creed” movie is “different from the game but the same.”
It has been previously speculated that Michael Fassbender will be playing the role of Desmond Miles. The actor, however, cited in an earlier interview that people should not always believe what they see or read.
“Assassin’s Creed” movie opens in theatres on Dec. 16, 2016. Stay tuned on Movie News Guide (MNG) for more updates.
