“Assassin’s Creed” Movie Update: The Movie is Based During Spanish Inquisition
“Assassin’s Creed” is getting its own movie and the director Justin Kurzel hinted that fans can expect the story to be centered around the Spanish Inquisition. Read on for more details.
The hit game will soon get its own movie. Michael Fassbender is going to produce it with Kurzel as director. It is rumored that Fassbender is also going to act in the movie. It was previously assumed that Fassbender will also direct the movie, but apparently, he thought the burden of directing should fall on Kurzel, as the incumbrance of producing it fell to Fassbender.
The movie that has the working title of “Assassin’s Creed the Movie” is a spinoff of the hit video game ‘Assassin’s Creed,’ Ubisoft’s big game. The game is so popular, it is going to get a ninth franchise. The game already has 13 notable spin-offs.
It was previously speculated that the movie project for “Assassin’s Creed” may be set in Italy, during the time of Renaissance, or even during the American Revolution. Some even predicted the setting to be the Carribean high seas.
However, Crossmap revealed that the new movie is going to be set during the time of the Spanish inquisition. Film Divider also revealed that it may even feature many flash-forwards into the present time.
Fassbender is rumored to portray the protagonist struggling through the present time. Spoilers revealed include the idea that in the present day, he’s an inmate on death row. In the setting of the Spanish Inquisition, he is to portray the famous assassin, Aguilar de Agarorobo.
“Assassin’s Creed” series is famous for using real men from historical settings for their plot and characters. The gameplay puts an alternate history type of twist on the story and the gamers love the series for the surreal twist.
