Backstrom Spoiler: Bella
“Backstrom” Season 1 Episode 2 “Bella” will air on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on FOX. Backstrom and his team are on the case of an arsonist, but as experience has taught the detective, things are not what they seem. Before we get into the details, here’s a quick recap of the pilot.
In “Dragon Slayer” (air date: Jan. 22, 2015), Backstrom (Rainn Wilson) took his first case with the Special Crimes Unit (SCU). It was campus suicide, which turned out to be murder. The victim was identified as the son of a senator. Early on, Backstrom already knew that a black guy among the crowd of on lookers had something to do with this crime, but as it was still presumptive, the team investigated further.
Their investigation lead them to find cocaine among the victim’s things. They also discovered his relationship with a young woman who worked as a stripper in a club owned by a known drug lord.
Backstrom, in the end, was able to piece the puzzle together, based on the final confessions of the black guy, who’s actually the brother of the stripper. His sister and the drug lord, whom Backstrom managed to shoot, were behind the murder.
The deal was, the senator’s son fell in love with the stripper, who was working to scam him all along. When the senator’s son tried to help the stripper, whom he thought was in trouble, he was planning on shooting the drug lord. Only, he killed him first.
Not bad for Backstrom first day back as returning investigator.
The whole episode followed the formula of a basic police procedural, presented to establish just who the main characters are.
Spoiler Alert: “Backstrom” Season 1 Episode 2 “Bella” will air on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on FOX.
In this upcoming episode, the SCU takes on the case of an arsonist.
Samantha Orland (guest star Angelique Cabral) will enlist the help of the unit in relation to a special case. An arsonist has put the life of a family in danger. The evidence suggests that it may be the work of a fire artist. However, Backstrom does not think this is the case. Someone they least suspect is likely to have done the crime.
The team will eventually discover some evidence that have gone missing from the crime scene, which will lead Backstrom to conclude that this case has someone involved from the inside.
In this same episode, Backstrom will encounter an old neighbor who used to bully him as a child. The bully stole something of great significance to Backstrom when they were younger.
Neidermayer (Kristoffer Polaha), meanwhile, will work together with Backstrom’s snitch, Gregory Valentine (Thomas Dekker) in recovering stolen evidence.
The episode will have the following guest stars: Eddie McClintock as Sam D’Agostino; Matt Battaglia as Nick D’Agostino; David Carzell as Larry Dabkey; Elysia Rotaru as Melinda Norburg; Kurt Ostlund as Martin Phinney; Alison Araya as Danielle Black; Marco Soriano as Robert Hodstetter.
