“Bad Boys,” the blockbuster American action comedy, will be returning for another round of action! The sequel is all set to premiere sometime around early 2017 and will see the return of the original cast – both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Read on to know more about the scoop.
Tom Rothman, the new chairman of Sony’s motion picture group, revealed the news of Will Smith’s return in the upcoming sequel of “Bad Boys.” Sony seems to be reviving a lot of films lately, as seen in their classic films, “Jumanji.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Rothman mentioned, “The dated films reflect the hard work of any people inside and outside of the company but are just the start of making Sony a consistent volume supplier of quality product for diverse audiences worldwide.”
Rothman also announced that its lead star, Will Smith will be involved in the revival of “Bad Boys,” however, “it’s not clear whether he will star, produce or both, insiders say.” Smith previously played the role of Mike Lowrey.
Both Smith and Lawrence can have a magnificent comeback in the “Bad Boys” sequel. Lawrence can reprise his role since he has been off the limelight for quite some time and has not been a part of any major movies lately. As for Smith, his name has headlined tabloids and gossip sites after rumors became rife that he and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith were headed for a divorce. Will Smith has already addressed the issues and outwardly denied the rumors, as stated by iDigitalTimes.
The joint comeback of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence can be the trump card for Sony basically. The “Bad Boys” franchise has a great following, and this sequel will undoubtedly pull them to theatres. There’s no official announcement about the finalized contracts or shooting dates for the “Bad Boys” sequel yet.
