BAFTA Awards Fell into a Prank by Sasha Baron Cohen
Oh well, what else did you expect from the guy. When the ludicrously famed star Ali G aka Borat aka General Aladeen walks the stage at BAFTA Awards, something had to be insane. This time it was an old wheelchair bound lady that got knocked down the stage into the A- list audience.
Yes, you read that right, when Sasha Baron Cohen was invited on stage to receive the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy he jumped into a dance, tapping the honorary cane famed for Charlie Chaplin and tripped the 87 year old, oldest star to have worked with Charlie Chaplin himself, down the stage into the spectators.
Well, it would have been something if that woman actually was who Salma Hayek introduced her to be. Thank God for the stuntmen; what actually happened was that the actual 87 year old star was replaced by a stuntman who hurled himself into the crowd. It took the crowd sometime to understand what had actually happened while the lady was comedically pronounced dead and taken to the backstage.
I guess what Cohen wanted to convey indirectly was something like “you have been warned, think twice before you plan on giving the award away to anyone else but me.”
Other than him, George Clooney, Kathryn Bigelow, Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ben Kingsley also received awards.
