Previously on“Bates Motel” Season 2 Episode 7 “Presumed Innocent” (air date: April 14, 2014), the episode focused on the aftermath of the death of Cody’s father and the investigation on Norman’s connection with it. As the events continued to escalate, Norman’s uncontrollable meltdowns are starting to take their toll on him and his relationship with the other characters in the show. Norman had previously argued with his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) about his relationship with Cody (Paloma Kwiatkowski) and his secrets on his now-frequent blackouts. Before being involved in the unfortunate death of Cody’s father, he has gone crazy on Cody when she encouraged Emma (Olivia Cooke) to be brave.
“Bates Motel” Season 2 Episode 8 “Meltdown” Episode Recap:
Hollywood News Daily reported that the investigations ruled out the incident as a form of “self-defense” and not murder. It seems that Norman’s sheer luck is running out. He was then called by Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) for questioning about the re-opened case of Miss Watson’s murder. Romero found out that Norman’s semen as found inside the victim, but he didn’t confront Norman.
Following the events in last week’s episode, Norman is still upset with his mother, who doesn’t want to tell him what happens during his blackouts. Norman had put on an attitude after he learned that his mother would have another date with George.
He was confronted by Romero when he arrived at the motel, but he denied that he slept with Blair Watson before she died. Romero told him that if he doesn’t cooperate, he will tell it about his mother. Norman ran away from him and went to get his “prized” possessions from Miss Watson including her pearl earrings and newspaper clippings. The episode ended with him being chloroformed by an unknown person.
Norma, on the other hand, learns about their unlucky connection with the drug business among the powerful families in White Pine Bay. Norma gets a visit from her former anti-“bypass” ally Nick Ford (Michael O’Neill) to talk about his meeting with his estranged son. She was then accompanied by Emma to go to his current whereabouts. She met Zane Carpenter (Michael Eklund), who lets her in the Ford Warehouse. Norma immediately confronted her son.
Also, Norma seemingly starts to heat up her relationship with George (Michael Vartan) after Norman embarrassed her in front of him. She went on a date with him when he told her that the “bypass” was temporarily halted.
A wounded Dylan (Max Thieriot) woke up in another unconscious state when the cops arrive at the warehouse. They went to investigate on the ambush that Zane and his group made on their rivals. Then, he informed Jody (Kathleen Robertson) about it. He was surprised when he saw his mother in his office. He was also confronted by Sheriff Romero on Zane’s whereabouts.
Finally, he agreed to meet Nick in a public place outside the town. He learned that Nick wanted to team up with him to take down Zane. Dylan immediately told Jody that Zane may get them killed if he continued to cross every line with Nick. He was then given permission to kill her brother.
