“Bates Motel” Recap: Season 2 Episode 9 “The Box”
“Bates Motel” Season 2 Episode 9 “The Box” (air date: April 28, 2014) began after Norman was captured by a group of men working for Nick Ford (Michael O’Neill).
A groggy Norman woke up alone inside a metal box filled with creepy, crawling bugs. When he tried to scream for help, he learned that his captors put him in the middle of the forest. He found a slight chance of getting away when Ford’s men tried to feed him. Unfortunately, they still caught him and found about his “prized” possessions that belonged to Blair Watson (Keegan Connor Tracy). Blair’s pearl earrings and the newspaper clipping about her murder were brought to her father.
His awful condition inside the box had triggered his memories. Now, he remembered that he was actually the one who killed Miss Watson. After having sex with his Languages teacher, he went to another phase when he had taken his mother’s personality again. He killed his teacher by slashing her throat and he took her belongings as trophy.
Norma came home after her rebellious act of sleeping with George (Michael Vartan). She was then grilled by Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) that he wants to speak with Norman. Later, she found out that her son is missing. It was then confirmed by a phone call from Nick, who called her to say that he got her son. Nick told her that she might reunite with Norman if Dylan (Max Thieriot) follows his instructions. A distraught Norma immediately went to her other son for help.
In this week’s episode, it seemed that Norma cannot hold all of the men in her life. Norman is missing and Dylan deals with the drug business. Romero told her about Norman’s role in Miss Watson’s murder while she had a recent rift with her on-and-off boy friend, George.
Dylan was updated on how things have turned out due to their unlucky connection with the drug business. He doesn’t have a perfect relationship with Norman, but he needed to take action. Nick wanted Dylan to kill their “problem” – Zane Carpenter (Michael Eklund).
In “Meltdown” (“Bates Motel” Season 2 Episode 8), which aired on April 21, 2014, Dylan was given a go signal from his boss/lover, Jodi (Kathleen Robertson) to kill her brother. He went to Jodi again to know Zane’s whereabouts and found him in the company of armed men.
Dylan knew that Nick will kill him after telling him that he did not follow his instructions. In the end, he killed Nick during their heated fight with a fireplace poker.
Meanwhile, Emma (Olivia Cooke) has finally had enough of her connection with the chaotic Bates family. She was devastated that no one would tell her anything.
