Why ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Falls Under Other Genres As Well?
This is one superhero movie that promises to break the barriers and not to be called as “just another superhero” movie. Its not an “enjoy your popcorn” movie, as the cast of the movie have repeatedly been mentioning that this movie will cater to a wider variety of audiences.
International Business Times took instance from what Jesse Eisenberg said about it. The “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” star who is reportedly playing the role of Alexander Joseph Luthor Jr. in the movie was all praises for the movie and stated how the people behind the making of it are responsible to make it look so distinctive.
He even mentioned that putting “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in the superhero genre won’t suffice as the movie will cater to a larger audience and has quite sophisticated and discussion oriented theme to it that screenwriter Chris Terrio has been able to put in it.
Compared to Marvel movies, the report states that DC Extended Universe has its focus on releasing darker and grittier movies, something that will be quite evident in the movies that have been planned. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad” prove just that and it seems MPAA agrees with what DCEU has planned to do as it recently gave “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” a PG-13 rating.
Movie Pilot added that while “Man of Steel” dealt with Superman coming in terms with his Kryptonian identity, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will deal with issues like security, peace and the fallout that will take place between the two DC titans.
As someone from the audience, stepping into an already established DC Extended Universe will prove to be a smart way to drift away from what other superhero movies have been doing i.e. superhero origin stories. The origin stories in the DCEU have taken a backseat as they have been planned for a much later release. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” releases on March 25th.
