‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:’ Jena Malone Playing Barbara Gordon
Jena Malone’s involvement in the upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is nothing new. It was reported earlier that she is being considered for an important role in the movie that will feature the biggest superhero showdown. Contrary to what was being reported earlier that she would play the role of Carrie Kelly who donned the persona of Robin in Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns,” she will be playing a character much more closer to Batman/Bruce Wayne.
According to Latino-Review, Jena Malone will be playing the role of Barbara Gordon who is also known as Batgirl. What is interesting to know that Barbara, who becomes a vigilante by night, is the daughter of Commissioner Jim Gordon. The media outlet confirmed via third source that she would indeed be playing the aforementioned role. In the comics Barbara has been known to play two roles, the first one being Batgirl and the second one was the Oracle. The origin of Oracle comes from the graphic novel “Batman: The Killing Joke” when the evil prince of crime Joker shot her in the spinal chord, which resulted in Barbara becoming paraplegic. Later editor Kim Yale and writer John Ostrander established her as a computer expert and information broker known as Oracle. Now it depends on the makers as to which version of Barbara will Jena Malone play in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
If Jena Malone is playing the Batgirl, then there are chances that she will give up her alter ego because of Jason Todd’s murder at the hands of the Joker. The Robin costume that featured in the trailer is an evidence of the same. Or if she is to play Oracle, then the Joker will target her in order to get to Commissioner Gordon. Since the story of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has not indicated Commissioner Gordon’s presence in the movie, there are high chances, she will play Batgirl. Whatever the case be, it will all clear up once an official announcement is made.
