‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:’ Reasons Why Jason Todd Is The Joker
It is no secret that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is going to unwrap quite a few secrets hidden deep down DC’s sleeves. With the movie setting up the platform for DC’s own Cinematic Universe, which is being referred to as “DC Extended Universe” to work on, there are bound to be theories floating around. The latest theory is actually quite intriguing.
According to Comicbook.com, the Joker that everyone has seen in the trailer of “Suicide Squad” and got impressed might not be the Evil Prince of Crime hardcore, DC fans are used to looking at. This Joker might be someone else altogether. If fans remember the animated movie “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker,” one would know that Tim Drake was turned into the Joker in the future by the original one who did the deed before dying. What if director Zack Snyder has adopted something on the lines of that? What if the Joker that we have been seeing is actually Jason Todd himself?
A latest theory suggests that it is the second Robin Jason Todd himself who took on the mantle of the Joker somehow. The actual story had the original Joker killing Jason Todd after having tortured him. Maybe in the movie when Jason gets captured by the Joker, the psycho criminal does not really kill him but instead tortured him mentally and forces Jason to lose his discretionary mind and turn into a maniac like the original one. Perhaps later the original one dies, but has successfully passed on his craziness to Jason who takes on the identity of the lunatic.
There is another evidence to the theory and that is the bullet wounds that both Jason Todd’s Robin costume and Jared Leto’s Joker have. Both the wounds are on the two shoulders and further suggest that this Joker could be Jason Todd.
Cinema Blend reported that the theory is a bit off track since Ben Affleck and Jared Leto are almost of the same age, which means chances of Jared portraying a younger Joker looks a bit thin. The media outlet also suggests that the wounds on Jared Leto’s Joker could be from some other encounter and just co-incidentally happens to be at the same place as the Robin’s costume. To be quite honest, the theory worth thinking upon to some extent but any detail about the new Joker could kill the excitement surrounding it.
