‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is Not a Sequel to ‘Man of Steel’

Many would say that “Man of Steel” marked the beginning of DC Cinematic Universe just what “Iron Man” did for Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the end of “Man of Steel”, metropolis was almost in debris for Superman had just killed one of the most powerful nemesis that he had. Many thought that there would be a sequel to the movie, but DC thought otherwise. They decided to bring in Batman who would judge Superman’s character based on his actions in “Man of Steel”. So, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” was announced as the movie that would follow up the events of “Man of Steel”. Naturally anyone would think since this movie is taking place after the events of “Man of Steel”, it could be a sequel to the movie. However, Superman aka Henry Cavill himself has something else to say.

According to Cinema Blend, Henry wants everyone to know that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is not a sequel to “Man of Steel”. True that it is following the events of the latter movie, but the story of the former would focus on different things. Henry added that the movie will be focusing more on Batman’s introduction since this is the first time Ben Affleck will be playing a much older version of the Dark Knight along with establishing a base for the two parter “Justice League” movies that will be releasing in 2017 and 2019.

Henry also added that the studio will be turning their attention towards establishing other heroes as well by releasing their solo movies. Amongst the ones currently lined up are “Aquaman”, “Wonder Woman”, “Flash” etc. Once these characters are established then the studio could focus more on individual Superman sequels since the character himself is a tough one to tell.

Henry also praised the Dark Knight and mentioned that the “darker vigilante” is more likeable amongst people because the character speaks to the human psyche more easily when compared to the God-like superhero.
