‘Battle Creek’ Recap: A Young Girl with Heroin
“Battle Creek” Episode 3 “Man’s Best Friend” aired on Sunday, Mar. 17, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. The episode kicks off with the cops visiting a local middle school as a routine. Read on to know what their dog finds.
The drug-sniffing dog spots heroin in the bag of a young girl (talking about disturbing). It is up to the investigators to know if where did the child find the substance. Their initial problem is, the girl does not want to talk. It is either protecting someone or worse – herself.
Russ Agnew suspects the child’s mother, but she just gets defensive. She promises to hire a lawyer for herself and threatens the cops of setting up her daughter. The only way for the detectives is to hire a Social Services worker to get inside the woman’s house. However, the social worker did not find anything suspicious. Strangely, the kid has a lot of achievement awards from school and appears to be greatly loved by the parents.
Finally, Milt Chamberlain notices that the girl’s uncle seems suspicious. It was based on the photos he has seen. He plans to talk with Uncle Joey. It turns out that Joey was a cop who might have access to drugs. On the other hand, Russ makes the interrogation personal for him because he was the only cop not invited to Joey’s barbecue party in the past. However, Joey was known to be one of the good guys in the police department, so he is eventually cleared.
The investigators have no choice but to go back to the child’s parents. Milt asks for their cooperation because after all, it is for their daughter’s sake (makes sense). Although the parents become cooperative, the girl still remains quiet in the interrogation. The police has no choice but to arrest her.
Does this get any worse? Even at the juvenile detention, the child still does not want to talk. Holly volunteers to investigate and successfully finds out in the evidence locker that a person has set up a bag of baking soda to disguise heroin.
Holly concludes that Joey has access to the evidence locker. Another thing that helped in the investigation is a recording in Joey’s car about his conversation with the girl.
In the end, another issue emerges when Erin and Russ find out that a few FBI superiors want to kick Milt out of their department. What can possibly be the cause? Catch the next episode on Mar. 22, 2015.
