‘Beauty And The Beast’ Spawns Live Action Movie

Disney is all set to release a live action movie based on its animated classic “Beauty and the Beast” and Emma Watson is going to star in it. Disney fans were given the first look of the stunning new movie at Disney’s D23 fan celebration on Saturday, August 15th.

Disney production house is all set to release a new take on the old classic, “Beauty and the Beast.” The new feature is going to star Emma Watson, who famously portrayed Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter. Dan Stevens has been cast as the beast in the movie. He famously played Sir Lancelot in the movie, “Night at the museum: Secret of the Tomb.” The leads will be joined by Ewan McGregor as Lumiere the candlestick, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth the clock, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts.

Readers will recall that “Beauty and the Beast” is the story of a prince who is transformed into a beast when he refuses to let a witch spend a night at his castle. As per Disney’s standard trope, the prince must rely on true love to undo the spell. And a young damsel called Belle is supposed to teach him to love again.

The music for the movie will be written by Alan Menken and Sir Tim Rice.

It remains to be seen how the tale would be reinterpreted for the live-action reprise. The best thing about the stories from Disney’s repertoire is the fact that even though the end is predictable, the plot and the engaging characters keep the audience emotionally involved till the very end. The other good thing about the stories is that they make for good timeless legends, ones that will keep the children as well as adults involved for a long time to come.

Do you think that the new live action movies will get as much attention from the audiences as the timeless classics? Do let us know in the comments section. The film comes out in 2017.

MTV reported the news first.
