Twentieth Century Fox’s “Gone Girl” is a mystery-suspense, drama set to hit the U.S. theatres on Oct. 3, 2014. It is directed by David Fincher. Its cast members include Ben Affleck (Nick Dunne), Rosamund Pike (Amy Dunne), Missi Pyle (Ellen Abbott), Neil Patrick Harris (Desi Collings), Kim Dickens (Detective Rhonda Boney) and Patrick Fugit (Detective Jim Gilpin). “Gone Girl” is based on Gillian Flynn’s novel of the same name. It is Nick and Amy’s fifth wedding anniversary. But, instead of celebrating it in a fancy restaurant, Nick reports to the police that his wife is missing. Soon after, the police is under pressure as the media steps in, creating a buzz about the case. Nick’s happy persona crumbles. He starts to act strange, and the people around him is trying to consider the idea: Did Nick kill Amy?
In a statement from Entertainment Weekly, the Oscar-winning actor said that he does not want to give away the details of the film. He also noted that if the viewers have appreciated the book, they will surely appreciate the film.
“I don’t want to give away too much, because if you know the book, you know that there are set of reveals that you would want to maintain the integrity of. But I will say that Gillian adapted it and I think it’s very, very faithful to her book. If you read the book and liked it, you will definitely like the movie,” said Affleck in the Entertainment Weekly feature.
According to Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, 99% or a total of 1,119 moviegoers would like to watch this film. With the film’s mystery-suspense twist, it is definitely something to watch out for.
Flynn’s novel “Gone Girl” has sold six million copies and has been part of New York Times’ bestselling list for almost 71 weeks! Moreover, Flynn has also written “Dark Places” and “Sharp Objects.” She is the scriptwriter of the film adaptation of “Gone Girl.”
Surely a lot of the novel’s fans are excited to see the book come to life on screen. Plus, a lot of people want to watch Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike star in “Gone Girl.”
