Ben Affleck Rumored for ‘Superman’ Director Job

Actor Ben Affleck (The Town) is reportedly famed producer Christopher Nolan’s first choice to direct his Superman series relaunch.

Affleck had been offered the chance to direct the superhero movie by Warner Bros around the recommendation of Nolan but made a decision to drop the concept.


Affleck acquired an Oscar in 1998 for co-writing Good Will Hunting with Matt Damon and his since directed the critically acclaimed dramas Gone Baby Gone and The Town.

Affleck portrayed former Superman star George Reeves in 2006 biopic Hollywoodland.

Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Black Swan), Duncan Jones (Moon), Matt Reeves and Zack Snyder (Watchmen) have also been rumored with regard to the director’s chair for the Nolan Superman project.
