Ben Affleck’s Batman is Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man of DC Extended Universe
Do you know how there’s always this one character who is considered to have a pivotal role in either a movie or a television series? Same is the case here. When the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) began, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man was considered as the pivotal character since he was the one with whom the “Avengers” initiative was shared and later on went on to become the most important character in the team. We sense something similar happening over at the DC Extended Universe. Read on.
Firstly it all begins with the rumors about how impressed executives at Warner Bros. are with Ben Affleck’s performance. Cinema Blend reported that after having seen his performance as the Batman, Warner Bros. wanted to see more of Batman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and put forward the same instruction to Zack Snyder. That means fans will be seeing an awful lot of Batman in the upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” Warner Bros. also reportedly is planning a standalone Batman film that Affleck will himself write and direct. There are chances that this standalone movie will turn into a trilogy of its own. Also with rumors about the DC Extended Universe being centered on the Batman makes him a pivotal character like Iron Man is in MCU.
Secondly for all those who are aware of the “New 52” series, it shows “Justice League” members individually getting attacked by Darkseid’s Parademons only to join forces at a later stage. Batman is shown as the one who has been studying everyone’s work and is the only one who suggests all the heroes to combine forces and fight the evil together. Remember we spoke about how Iron Man was the first hero who was given the confidential file of the “Avengers” initiative? Batman just like Iron Man will be the first hero following whom DC’s superhero team will form itself.
Finally, in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” when Tony says that he is only responsible for making everyone look cooler and bankrolling S.H.I.E.L.D. Batman has already been shown doing that in “Justice League” animated series. Once the team was formed, it was Bruce’s brains and fortune because of which “Justice League” got their own Watch Tower in space. So there are chances when the team is properly formed in the DC Extended Universe, Affleck’s Batman wouldn’t mind investing some odd billions and giving the superhero a proper headquarters to function from.
Besides this International Business Times also reported that Affleck’s Batman is being called as the Crown Jewel of DC Extended Universe, which honestly explains a lot. Now it only remains to be seen how does the DC Extended Universe shape itself with the huge line-up of movies already announced.
