Benedict Cumberbatch Gets Life-sized Chocolate Model, Benedict Choco-batch
In honor of one of the biggest chocolate celebrations of the year, chocolatiers spent a lot of time and effort to build what women may call one of their greatest fantasies fulfilled: a life-sized chocolate model of British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
Easter is upon us, and as part of celebration, eight enterprising chocolatiers decided to give some people a treat by making a life-sized model of Benedict Cumberbatch out of 500 bars worth of Belgian milk chocolate. And finally, after 250 hours, they were able to recreate Cumberbatch in all his sweet glory.
Benedict Choco-batch, as the model is fondly called by its creators, is also in part of promoting the U.K. television channel Drama. As to why the chocolatiers chose to model Cumberbatch among many other actors, their decision was based from a survey involving around 2,000 women asking of ‘the dishiest dramatic actors’ of UK TV. Cumberbatch earned 12% of the votes, with ‘Broadchurch’ actor David Tennant, ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Sean Bean, Idris Elba and Damian Lewis being the runners-up .
Choco-batch was made out of a hollow clay model then the chocolate was poured all over it. It was based from Cumberbatch’s usual gait in the red carpet of awarding ceremonies. Overall, the model weights about 88 pounds. In a video of the model’s creation, as shown by The Telegraph, team members admitted of finding it hard to resist the temptation of eating all the chocolate.
One of the chocolatiers also said that they had difficulty in doing the details of the model. “The striking thing about Benedict is that he’s got quite a thin face but has quite a large head, so trying to get that bit right is quite tricky,” he said.
For his debut, Benedict Choco-batch will be put up on display in a shopping center in Westfield Stratford City on Good Friday, April 3. Too bad the model’s not up until next Valentine’s Day, huh ladies? Post your comments below.
