The Big Bang Theory Recap: The Leftover Thermalization [WATCH VIDEOS]

The Big Bang Theory” Season 8 Episode 18 “The Leftover Thermalization” aired on Thursday, Mar. 12, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. on CBS. The characters finally address the fact that Bernadette sounds like Howard’s mom as they feasted on Mrs. Wolowitz’s last batch of cooked food. Find out what happened in this episode in the recap below.

Sheldon received the copy of “The Scientific American” magazine where his piece, which he co-wrote with Leonard, is being covered. There was an interview with him. Amy noticed that the article didn’t mention anything about Leonard at all. Sheldon thinks his friend won’t be upset when their theory is published in a famous magazine. But Amy rationalizes with him about overlooking his friend. Sheldon thinks it’s not his fault. He’s not the writer of the interview, is he?

Later that day, Sheldon tries to ease Leonard about the magazine coverage, which, predictably, upsets his friend. Sheldon compares their situation to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, who created Spider-man, where only Lee gets all the credit, the fame and the money. How is that going to make Leonard feel better?

Mrs. Wolowitz’s Last Batch of Cooked Food

Meanwhile, Howard, Bernadette and Raj drive to Mrs. Wolowitz’s house to pack some stuff. Bernadette is extra appreciative that Raj is with them as Howard could use a friend. It’s going to be hard to let go of his mother’s things. But when they get there, Stuart tells them that the power broke out in the whole block and it won’t be restored until the next day.

Howard freaks out and rushes to check the fridge, where he sees that food is slowly defrosting. Bernadette assures him it’s only food, but realizes that Howard sees it as a different matter. It’s the final batch of food his mother prepared and it’s slowly getting ruined.

Raj thinks re-freezing these at Howard’s place will not preserve it well, because of the whole freezing and re-freezing process. So, it is agreed that they will have a feast that night. They will invite their friends to eat so that nothing goes to waste. Mrs. Wolowitz would love that. It will be like she’s feeding them one last time.

Sheldon is A Baby and Leonard Will Not Him Play With His Helicopter!

Leonard confides to Penny about the magazine and his girlfriend thinks online shopping for a remote controlled helicopter would do the trick. Sheldon knocks on Penny’s door to inform Leonard that he spoke to the reporter. He’s told that it’s an editorial decision to only cite the lead scientist. Leonard gets more upset because the whole theory was his own idea first. Would Leonard be pleased if Sheldon adds his name on the cable bill instead?

On the way to the Wolowitz’s, Sheldon is griping to Amy about Leonard’s reaction, and the latter is doing the same with Penny in the other car. Sheldon wonders if it’s his fault for not correcting the reporter who thought he’s the lead scientist. Leonard thinks Sheldon is being petty like a child seeking attention. He declares Sheldon can never ever get to play with his helicopter!

It’s Going to Be A Feast, Which May Lead to Heartburn

While preparing the food, Howard becomes very emotional about missing his mother. He’s never ever going to talk to her. This dinner will really mean a lot for him. When the gang arrives, he tells them that this will not be a sad occasion, but a celebration, which may lead to heartburn later. There’s really plenty of food to finish!

But during dinner, Leonard and Sheldon couldn’t stop bickering about the magazine feature and it’s starting to get uncomfortable for everyone. Bernadette couldn’t help it anymore so she calls Sheldon and Leonard to another room.

Within everyone’s earshot, Bernadette berates Sheldon and Leonard for dampening what should be a happy occasion. She scolds the two and shouts at the top of her lungs, at which point, Howard realizes that his wife sounds a whole lot like his very own mother. Did anyone notice that before?

They’re all sitting in the living room after dinner, unable to move and clearly spent from all the eating. Sheldon flicks his phone to check another feature on “Physics Today” and good news, Leonard is mentioned in it!
