“Big Game” follows Oskari, a 13-year-old boy who underwent the traditional rite of passage of their village. Armed with only a bow, the young hunter was tasked to hunt a deer within 24 hours. However, in a dire turn of events, he meets the president of the United States after the Air Force One mysteriously goes down, changing his life forever.
“Big Game” is directed and written by Jalmari Helander and co-written by Petri Jokirant. Helander has directed commercials, short films and music videos. His first full-length feature film was Rare Exports based on his earlier shorts: “Rare Exports, Inc.” (2003) and “Rare Exports: The Official Safety Instructions” (2005). “Big Game” stars Onni Tommila opposite Samuel L. Jackson along with Felicity Huffman, Victor Garber and Ted Levine.
“Big Game” first premiered at the TIFF (Toronto International Film Fest) last year, where it was met with an uproar from its viewers. IGN cited the pic as “a throwback to ’80s and ’90s adventure movie with a dash of comic book violence thrown in for good measure.”
Moreover, “Big Game” star Samuel L. Jackson is set to produce a live-action movie of “Afro Samurai,” which is based on a popular Japanese seinen dōjinshi manga series written and illustrated by manga artist Takashi Okazaki. “Afro Samurai” follows Afro on a story of revenge, set in a futuristic yet feudal Japan. Jackson is also assuming to take the role of Sho’nuff in a remake of “The Last Dragon.” Jackson’s latest appearance was in the “Captain America” sequel, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Jackson signed on to a nine-picture deal with Marvel, appearing as the comic book character, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, in films such as “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “The Avengers” and their sequels. In addition, Jackson will reprise his role for the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
