Bill Hader Returns to ‘Saturday Night Live!’

The “Saturday Night Live!” (SNL) actor Bill Hader, who has worked on set for eight seasons, will be returning as host for the NBC set in its Oct. 11, 2014 episode. Read on for further details.

According to the Hollywood Reporter (THR), NBC announced on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, comedian Bill Hader makes a comeback to his old home on NBC’s “SNL” to host its Oct. 11, 2014 episode. Hader, who will be debuting as host in the show, will be accompanied by musical guest Hozier. The new season will feature two new members of the cast, Pete Davidson and “The Daily Show’s” Michael Che, who will replace Cecily Strong as “Weekend Update” co-anchor. “SNL” has bade farewell to three cast members this summer — rooks Wheelan, Noel Wells and John Milhiser as well as Nasim Pedrad, who is now tied with FOX’s “Mulaney.”


Hader came to prominence for his work on “SNL,” debuting on the show on Oct. 1, 2005. His first role was as a psychologist giving his views about life and death during the emergency landing of JETBLUE Airways Flight 292. Hader received his first nomination for a Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on “SNL” becoming the first male “SNL” cast member to receive this nomination since Eddie Murphy in 1984. He retired by his eighth season. He then starred in films such as “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” where he lent his voice for the lead role, and “Superbad”; “Pineapple Express”; “Tropic Thunder”; “Adventureland”; “Men in Black 3”; “Paul”; “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”; “Doogal”; and “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.”

Hader has recently starred in the pic, “The Skeleton Twins,” alongside his “SNL” co-alum Kristen Wiig, as estranged twins who will reunite after their failed suicide attempts. They will be brought together again to find the things that they may have done wrong in the past. Hader will also star in “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them” with James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain, playing a supporting role as an on-screen best friend to Connor, McAvoy’s character.

Season 40 will be kicked off by “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt, who will debut as host on the show’s first episode on Sept. 27, 2014, alongside Ariana Grande, who will be also be making her “SNL” musical guest debut. Sarah Silverman also returns to host the second episode of the show. This will also be her first time hosting “SNL.” Musical Guest is Maroon 5, who has already appeared four times on the show.
