‘Bill & Ted 3’ Movie News: Keanu Reeves Worried About Funding? Alex Winters Hypes Up the More Than a Decade Long Sequel
The “Bill & Ted” franchise has waited for almost three decades till the chance for another sequel came up. The script and the original stars from 1989, like Keanu Reeves, have been on stand-by for quite sometime now and because of the wait, rumors of the third sequel being cancelled has been coming and going for the past few months.
The current position of the sequel in the news is that it is still under development. The biggest hurdle the movie has to traverse, according to Keanu Reeves, who will be playing the role of Ted “Theodore” Logan, and writer Ed Solomon is the movie’s lack of funding given that it will be the most expensive film in the franchise. In fact, Reeves mentioned that the creation of this third untitled “Bill & Ted” sequel is budgeted at around 150 million dollars.
In addition, he also said that there was another factor that keeps the project from moving forward. In a previous interview Reeves said that “it’s not that popular internationally.” He worries, since the movie is not as known as those being showed now, that financiers would be hesitant to grant them the amount, as reported by Screen Rant,
So how do the stars of the movie answer this conundrum?
Well, co-star Alex Winters has been going around and hyping up the soon-to-be-made sequel. Winters said in an interview:
“It’s exciting to come back to the characters. The fun thing about them is that they’re ageless. You play them in terms of who they are spiritually. Their mannerism and physicality are not tied to age. We played them like 9-year-old kids. They still have that quality. The comic potential of that becomes even better as it becomes more discordant. It will be funnier because they’re older” as reported by Slash Film.
