“Black Box” Season 1 Episode 12 “The Fear“ Recap:
In “The Fear,” Catherine (Kelly Reilly) and her colleagues took the case of Mira, a fearless mother of one. They probed that she lacked the emotion to have fears. Mira’s condition continued to endanger her one and only son when she tried to convince him to jump over a building together.
The episode also featured the fears of several “Black Box” characters. Dr. Lina Lark (Ali Wong) was sought by Dr. Bickman (Bickman) about the memory-erasing method. Bickman got traumatized because he almost administered the wrong operation to his close friend and doorman in his building. It hindered him from even doing simple medical operation. Aside from him, Lina has been agrophobiac since she became a part of the Cube while Dr. Leo had a problem with his recomendations and upcoming exam.
Meanwhile, Catherine severed her ties with her long-time therapist, Dr. Hartramph (Vanessa Redgrave). It was after Helen refused to work with patients who didn’t want to be admitted in the hospital. Catherine asked Farrah (Sepideh Moafi) fill in Hartramph’s position. She learned that Catherine was a bipolar and agreed to be faithful on the doctor-patient confidentiality. Moreover, Catherine made sure that Will (David Ajala) would not tell Esme about her parentage.
The episode ended with Catherine in her manic state. She lied to Farrah that she would be admitted to the hospital. She hijacked Bickman’s car along with her prescription of Oxytocin from Nurse Carlotta.
“Black Box” Season 1 Finale Episode 13 “Consequences” Recap:
In “Consequences,” the episode picked up after Catherine was arrested by the authorities. She had drove crazily and got naked in the woods during the night. She was left with no other choice but to be ordered for rehabilitation. After her rehab stint in Connecticut, Catherine must face the consequences of her actions. She met up with her brother Joshua (David Chisum), who refused to become her enabler.
At the Cube, Bickman told her that he knew that she’s bipolar. He assured her that he was there to support her as a friend. Owen (Terry Kinney) agreed to let her come back, but she must be guarded by their colleagues all the time. Owen’s doubt got changed when Catherine fought for her job back.
Catherine was surprised when she met again with Johnny, Esme’s biological father. It seemed that he needed a transplant. She told Regan (Laura Fraser) that she wanted to tell Esme about her secret, but Reagan told her not to. Esme learned the identity of her mother while Catherine wasn’t present. She went on hiding at Will’s apartment for support. She went with him to the hospital for Johnny’s operation. When she arrived, she still didn’t talk to Catherine.
The episode ended with an interesting cliffhanger. Catherine got fired by Owen. It was after Nurse Carlotta told him that Catherine tricked her to get a prescription of Oxytocin. The nurse previously got angry and jealous for Bickman’s attention when Catherine came back to their lives again.
