Blindspot Season 3 Update: Second Half To Be The Most Explosive, Martin Gero Promises
Blindspot on NBC

Blindspot Season 2 is currently on a break, but new episodes will air next month. However, while the series still has not aired its second series finale, it looks like plans are already getting laid out for Season 3.

Season 2 Ratings

While still on top of it’s game, Blindspot has gradually been losing same-day viewers. The second season premiere episode scored a 1.50 rating from the 18-49 demographic. That’s 7.098 million viewers, the highest this season so far.

In comparison, Blindspot Season 1 Episode 1 received a 3.12 rating from the coveted demographics and recorded 10.605 million viewers, according to the data by TV Series Finale.

Meanwhile, the Season 2 average rating so far is 1.22 with 5.596 viewers per episode. A bit disappointing considering that Season 1 clocked in at 1.83 with 6.92 million viewers (live and same-day).

Season 3 Chances

But, while ratings is gradually dropping, the action is just starting to heat up. The midseason finale that aired last week presented more mystery that Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander), Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and the rest of the team need to solve before it is too late.

For one, Shepherd (Michelle Hurd) and Sandstorm have gone underground. And, Weller still does not know why he was spared from the terrorist organization’s final attack against the FBI. Also another enduring questions from the show since the first season is “why the tattoos.”

All that will be answered in the upcoming episodes, promised show creator, Martin Gero. “A lot of the question you’ve asked — like, why the tattoos, what’s Shepherd’s endgame — a lot of the big mythology questions are going to be answered in these next 13 episodes,” he said.

Does this mean that the story of Jane Doe is about to end? Not quite so.

Gero also promised that the second half of Blindspot Season 2 will be the most “explosive” that the show will ever be. Moreover, there is a huge twist in the finale that might change the show forever, he told TV Guide.

While NBC is yet to renew the crime-thriller for Season 3, it looks like Gero still has a few trick up his sleeves. Likely, if the action picks up in the mid-season premiere, a renewal announcement will follow after.

Blindspot Season 2 Episode 10 will air on Jan. 4, 2017 on NBC.
