Meanwhile, Robert Rayburn (Sam Shepard), back from the hospital, remembered the tragedy surrounding Sarah Rayburn’s death. Read on to learn more about this episode.
The episode began with a couple of Hispanics torching the boat that John Rayburn’s (Kyle Chandler) was in, along with other Hispanics who had been smuggled out of Mexico by boat. However, they were trapped inside and the boat exploded after it had been torched.
In the present day, John and Marco Diaz (Enrique Murciano) asked for Kevin Rayburn’s (Norbert Leo Butz) help in identifying the boat, but the serial numbers had been burned off during the explosion. Later, they discovered that the gasoline found on the Jane Doe was the same as the gasoline that had been used to torch the boat.
In the hospital, Robert Rayburn (Sam Shepard) remembered Sarah Rayburn as she ran down the beach with the seahorse necklace he had given him, and remembered a teenaged Danny frantically screaming from the incoming boat. He then told Sally Rayburn (Sissy Spacek) that he wanted to go home, and told Meg Rayburn (Linda Cardellini) that he would think about the will that she had redone before she filed it.
Back at home, he told his wife that if she wanted Danny Rayburn (Ben Mendelsohn) to stay, then he could stay. As he wandered the inn, he watched as Danny worked, and was doing a good job of it as well.
Later that day, the all of the boys and the children, including Danny, went to watch John’s son’s baseball game, while the ladies, including Sally, drank together. At the game, Robert fell asleep and remembered that he had tried to wake Sarah up, but she didn’t wake up. After the game, John apologized to his father about lying to Danny about who had made the first decision of whether he should stay or not.
Meanwhile, John and Marco discovered that the gasoline that had been used to torch their Jane Doe came from the gasoline station that Eric O’Bannon (Jamie McShane) and Danny had stolen from two weeks ago. John then got the security footage of the station, which was grainy, but he asked Marco to enhance it.
At the inn, Robert watched as Danny did a good job of showing a new vacationing family around the place.
Meanwhile, Meg received a lucrative offer to go to New York to work with a big firm, and Kevin informed a friend of his that he was thinking of selling the boatyard.
Later that day, Kevin informed his father that he was surprised to see that Danny was doing good, and later that night, Danny and Kevin worked on their father’s old pick up truck, which they made work.
The next day, as John and Marco found another dead Hispanic female teenager, they realized that they were looking at a human trafficking ring. Meanwhile, Eric, who was spray painting gasoline cans got a call from the smugglers who asked for another delivery of cans.
Outside, as Robert passed by Danny, who was giving snorkeling equipment to the young girls of the family he had just welcomed, remembered that he couldn’t wake Sarah up. He then remembered a teenaged Danny screaming Sarah’s name as he came to shore on a boat, and later ran inside the house.
Later that day, Robert drove the pick- up with Danny in the front seat, and John and Kevin at the back. Afterwards, he told Sally, who refused to talk about his will, that he would be going out with the boys, but in reality, he went out with Danny. There, he told Danny that he wanted him to leave because Danny’s presence brought back a lot of memories and offered him some money to leave. He then agreed to wire whatever amount Danny wanted to wherever he was. Danny left after promising that Robert would never see his face again. Robert then cried and remembered how he carried a wet and lifeless Sarah and had tried to revive her, then instructed Danny to go to the house for help.
