Blue Bloods Casting Update: Meet the New Faces of Season 5
In less than a week, a new season of “Blue Bloods” will be back with both old and new faces. While viewers are happy to see the Reagan family once again for another round of “Blue Bloods,” there is also that anticipation and excitement as to what the new faces will bring to the show. It has already been reported on this website, that Holt McCallany, who portrays the lawyer Robert McCoy, will be around this season and will be a potential love interest for Erin Reagan (Bridget Monayhan), as he will be the new interim District Attorney. McCallany’s character has a recurring role during the duration of the season.
According to TV Line, another new face that will be joining the Reagans on screen is actor Bill Irwin, who will be portraying a recurring character. He will be playing Cardinal Brennan, the Archbishop of the Diocese of New York. As an actor, he his acting credits include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (1999), “Lady in the Water” (2006), “Law and Order” (2008), “CSI” (2008 to 2011), and “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” (2013 to 2014).
And last but not the least, TV Line reported that we will be seeing LaTanya Richardson Jackson as the recurring character of the new squad commander, Lieutenant Dee Ann Carver. LaTanya. Samuel L. Jackson’s wife has appeared in various film and television projects such as “Malcolm X” (1992), “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993), “US Marshals” (1998), “Ally McBeal” (1998-1999), “100 Centre Street” (2001 to 2002) and “The Watsons Go to Birmingham” (2013). Aside from “Blue Bloods,” she will also be appearing in the HBO miniseries “Show Me a Hero,” which will air in 2015.
