‘Borderlands’ Game to Get a Film to Become the Latest Video Game to Film Adaptation
Lionsgate have reportedly signed a deal to turn the superhit Borderlands franchise into films seeing the success the games have got. Read on for more details.
“The Hunger Games” are about to end and the successful film series will leave a gap in business for Lionsgate. As previously reported they are working on a new “Power Rangers” movie, but apparently they don’t think it will be enough. “Borderlands” games have seen lots of critical and commercial success and they run on an interesting plot. Lionsgate hope to turn them into a film series to gain following from the gamers.
This follows the recent trend of turning successful games into films with “Assassins Creed” being the most high profile game to film conversion so far. The highly anticipated film stars Michael Fassbender and is likely to win a lot of accolades.
According to Movies.com, “Spider-Man” producers Avi and Ari Arad have been attached to the project. So far no writers or directors have been roped in but the big names associated with the film already, we can hope to see top talent working on a draft soon.
“Borderlands” is a role playing shooter game set on the planet of Pandora and has some pretty cool sci-fi technology to back an interesting alien tale.
It shows big corporations fighting to grab alien technology found in an ancient vault on Pandora’s nearby planet Promethea. The lead character is guided by someone called a “guardian angel.”
“Borderlands” film could be a classic because it will be adult rated like “Deadpool.” Graphic violence coupled with dark humor and vulgar dialogs would definitely mean the film would be PG-13. Generally, producers don’t like it if the film gets a PG-13 rating, but with “Deadpool” producers are using that positively to create more anticipation among the fans.
