Well, look who’s coming back for another season! The recently Peabody-awarded series “The Bridge” Season 2 will return on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 on FX. Read on to find more about “Falling Skies” including cast updates and what’s in store for its season 2 offering.

Serving on the opposite side of U.S and Mexico, “The Bridge” began with the joint collaboration of El Paso P.D. Detective Sonya Cross and Chihuahua homicide detective Marco Ruiz. They are set on finding out the notorious serial killer, who has been bombarding both borders.


“The Bridge” cast members include Diane Kruger (Det. Sonya Cross), Demián Bichir (Det. Marco Ruiz), Annabeth Gish (Charlotte Millwright), Thomas M. Wright (Steven Linder), and Ted Levine (Lt. Hank Wade).

Developed by Meredith Stiehm and Elwood Reid, the series is based on the Danish/Swedish TV series of the same name that was created by Hans Rosenfeld, Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. Stiehm and Reid joined Carolyn G. Bernstein and Lars Blomgren as the show’s the other executive producers.

According to Deadline, FX’s President of Original Programming Eric Schrier confirmed in a statement that the network green lighted another 13 episode season order. The season renewal was decided for the freshman series due to its strong rating with 4.64 million U.S. viewers, topping the list of new scripted summer cable series in 2013.

“We’ve been blown away by the compelling performances of Demian Bichir and Diane Kruger and the writing of Meredith Stiehm, Elwood Reid and their team, and are thrilled to be able to continue this journey for another season.” Schrier said in a statement in the Deadline article.

Aside from the strong ratings, the series also got the attention of several prestigious award-giving bodies including the Critics’ Choice Television Award for “Most Exciting New Series” in June 2013 and just recently, a Peabody Award.

Zap2it reported that that “The Bridge” Season 2 will pick-up with the events that happened to the main characters in Season 1.

The aftermath of the death of Marco’s son:

He will continue on dealing with the drug cartel and some corrupt officials. Sonya (Diane Kruger) and her boss Lt. Hank Wade (Ted Levine)’s relationship will be endangered as someone from Sonya’s past will return to her current life. Would they let the person to start a rift between them?

On the other hand, Sonya and Marco will have to cross their paths with El Paso Times reporter Daniel Frye (Matthew Lillard) and Adriana Mendez (Emily Rios) on the case of the Millie Quintana Money House.


Elsewhere, Steven Linder (Thomas M. Wright) and Charlotte Millwright (Annabeth Gish) will have to face difficult decisions regarding certain problems. Whatever they decide on, they must face the consequences that may be included in their decisions.

In other news, TV Guide reported on the two newest cast members who will join the critically-acclaimed series.

It seemed that “The Bridge” Season 2 will definitely become a family affair, as TV Guide reported. The show had tapped Bruno Bichir, Demian’s actor brother, to take on the role as a wealthy Mexican business leader. Acting is really runs in the blood of the Bichirs as the handsome and talented siblings came from a family of actors!

Who couldn’t be happier with the casting news, but Demian himself? It was also said that producer Elliot Reid had met him during one of the show’s party.

“He is one of the finest actors I know. We’ve worked together on films and theater, but never before on a TV show. This is going to be fun.” Demian shared in the TV Guide article.

Also, it was confirmed that Franka Potente of “American Horror Story: Asylum” will play the sinister Eleanor Schrock while “The Office” star Brian Baumgartner will take on the guest-starring role as the recovering alcoholic.
