A more elaborate teaser of the second season of “Broadchurch,” the critically favored crime drama on ITV in the U. K., has been unveiled. The teaser also confirmed the show’s launch date for Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. David Tennant and Olivia Colman return as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller respectively. Read on to learn more.
The trailer of the second season provides some tidbits as to the plot of the mystery drama, which has been shrouded in secrecy. But it seems like while the first season focused on the murder of a young boy. This time, the detectives will have to trace the abduction of two girls in this latest installment. It also looks like there are shades of Sandbrook in this story. If you recall, this was the case DI Hardy handled and failed to close before moving to Broadchurch.
The teaser hints of flashbacks from Hardy, in relation to the case in Sandbrook. It also briefly shows a new character played by James D’ Arcy, who declares that he wants his life back. Is he a suspect or a relative of the victim? Another new character, played by Charlotte Rampling, is shown talking to Beth and Mark Latimer in the teaser.
There’s also an instance showing Hardy stressing out and pleading to his partner, Ellie, that he cannot do it on his own. Some of the characters from the first season are still present in this latest installment. The teaser also clearly shows that they are still struggling to come to grips with the explosive events of last year.
The clip plays out as a one-minute montage featuring a haunting music with lyrics that fit the mood and emotion of the show perfectly. The song in the background is “Old Faces” by Laura Doggett.
The new season will pick up six months after the police solved the case of the death of Danny Latimer. While the wounds are still fresh, this small town will once again have to deal with a new tragedy. Are you eager to watch the second season?
