“When Jake (Golden Globes Awards winner Andy Samberg) is allowed the weekend off because of a hot streak in solving cases, he decides to take on a 8-year old cold case that everyone believes is unsolvable. With the help of Sgt. Terry (Terry Crews), the two try to crack the case once and for all. Meanwhile, Amy (Melissa Fumero) plans a romantic trip with new boyfriend Teddy (guest star Kyle Bornheimer), but a unexpected event with Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) turns the tables and Gina (Chelsea Peretti) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) let Charles (Joe Lo Truglio) in on one of the best-kept secrets of the precinct.”
According to AV Club, the title of this week’s episode came from a case called 52ABX-32QJ that Peralta and Terry worked on eight years ago The case was deemed unsolvable because the only remnants found from the victim were a charred torso and a severed finger. Apparently, there was a boat explosion during that time.

TV By The Numbers reported that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” Season 1 Episode 21 “Unsolvable” got an accumulated ratings of 2.50 million viewers in the U.S. on its air date (March 18, 2014.)
TV.com also hailed Detective Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) as the episode’s MVP.
It seems that everyone can’t help but love every episode of the Golden Globes winner for Best Comedy Series “Brooklyn Nine Nine.”
TV Fanatic shared the sentiment that “It’s getting harder and harder to critique this show without sounding like a broken record, but it really is that good.”
Alan Sepinwall of Hit Flix‘s “What’s Alan Watching?” pointed out few good remarks of the episode including having “perfect” story flow from the beginning until the end.
““Unsolvable” had a perfect opening, with Holt teasing Peralta with the hula hoop information no one else would believe, and a perfect closing, with a very drunk Jake and Terry finally joining in on a Salt ‘N’ Pepa sing-along with Charles.”
Alan also pointed out several character tandems that stood out from the episode such as Terry and Jake, Hitchcock and Sully, Gina and Rosa and also the comic duo of their “Robot” boss Captain Ray Holt and Detective Jake Peralta.
According to IGN, “Unsolvable,” proved to be another strong showing from the B99 team.
