Why ‘Captain America: Civil War’ is at a Better Position than ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’
“Captain America: Civil War” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” both are going to be next year’s exceptional movies and with movies like that lined up, there’s bound to be some comparison between the two. However, a recent report believes that the former is at a better position than the latter.
According to Forbes, apart from the fact that “Captain America: Civil War” trailer got more views on YouTube than the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” trailer, there’s something more that puts the former movie in a better position than the latter and that happens to be trusted.
Let’s break it down to the most basic details. “Captain America: Civil War” is more or less the sequel to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which was a major hit at the box office back in 2014. Even though there are many Avengers that will be featuring in this movie, it is still being marketed as a Captain America movie instead of being marketed as an Avengers movie. Since “Captain America: Civil War” is a complete Captain America movie, it has the advantage of being a sequel to a movie that was loved by everyone at the box office and carried a Steve Rogers label.
As far as “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is concerned, the previous movie “Man of Steel” did manage to rake up the box office and garnered worldwide acclaim, however, the opening for the movie didn’t quite stand up to the reputation as it failed to hit a $300 million opening.
Now with other heavyweights like Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and a possible Flash cameo, one wouldn’t be able to call it a “Man of Steel” sequel and would have to sell itself as a separate entity. With all the heavyweights included in the movie, it will surely prove to be a massive success however it will have to depend only on its story and characters to prove its worth. In the long run, it will help the DCEU establish the tone they want to achieve with their films especially since DC has quite a few solo movies planned and not to forget the most anticipated “Justice League.”
Comic Book Movie added that since their debut in Entertainment Weekly, certain high-quality images of characters from “Captain America: Civil War” were released. They provide a better look at Black Panther’s suit, Captain America’s look and the fight between Iron Man and Bucky amongst others. With the excitement riding over both the movies, fans will be in for a treat when “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” released on March 25th and “Captain America: Civil War” releases on May 6th.
