On their way to London, on a flight via Oceanic Air, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) signed a book of his for Flight Attendant Farrah Darwaza (Inbar Lavi), before experiencing some turbulence which made Castle a little bit worried. In order to distract himself, he decided to go over his and Alexis’ (Molly C. Quinn) itinerary for London trip only to learn that Alexis was going to a pub in Kent to meet up with some friends instead of attending his lecture at 221B Baker Street.
After talking to Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), Castle decided to go to the galley after noticing that the flight attendants were worried about something. The captain, a big fan of his, asked Castle to help them out as Air Marshal Kyle Ford (Brien Perry), had gone missing after telling them that he had learned of a possible threat to the flight.
Together with Flight Attendant Debbie Parker (Paula Newsome), Castle went into one of the cargo holds where they discovered that Ford had been murdered and had been stuffed into one of the suitcases. He then called up Beckett who decided to work the case from the ground with the help of the FBI.
With Dr. Lanie Parish’s (TamalaJones) help, Alexis discovered that the murderer was left handed. Thanks to a pair of honeymooners who took a lot of selfies during the time that the attendants saw Ford at the back the plane, Castle and Alexis discovered that he Ford had been watching the guy seated in seat 26B. After checking with Kate, they discovered that whoever was in that seat wasn’t who he said he was as he was using a stolen passport. They then got his fingerprint to confirm who he was, and tried to devise a plan so that they could detain him, but they ended up chasing him as he had overheard them planning.
While Castle interrogated him, Debbie and Alexis looked for his bag to check for the missing gun, and to check if there was a bomb in it. Castle then discovered that the guy’s name was Aiman Haddad (Nick Greene), and that he had stolen Isadore Baldone’s passport as he was on the no fly list as his cousin had joined ISIS. All he wanted to do was to go home to Syria as his mother was dying. He also had no idea who Ford was.
After informing Tory Ellis (Maya Stojan) that Haddad had seen Ford receive a lot of text messages before he disappeared, they discovered that he had a second phone, which Tory pinged so that they could find it.
After reading the text messages, it seemed that someone had been flirting with him via text, and that the messages later on became more hostile. They traced it to a prepaid burner phone that had been preordered and had been picked up at the airport using a credit card that belonged to a former Oceanic Air executive who had been fired and had lost a big lawsuit against the airline. Castle and Debbie then managed to detain her after finding a gun, in her bag, which she claimed had been planted. She then told them that she was Ford’s girlfriend, and that she had come in disguise as she thought that he had been cheating on her since he cancelled their weekend plans in order to work. Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) then informed them that Ford had asked to be on that flight and had received around $10,000 from a businessman named Victor Dietrich (Roy Werner), who later told them that Ford was on that flight to make sure that nothing would happen to the $ 13.3 million watch that he bought, and was being brought in by an apprentice, Aaron Rich (Ben D. Goldberg).
They then discovered that Aaron had been drugged, and that he was now wearing a fake. After realizing that the culprit was a Flight Attended. Debbie then pulled Ford’s gun on them, and told them that she had done it as the airline had decided to remove her pension, which she was supposed to collect as she was retiring after thirty years on the job. Alexis then managed to talk her out of hurting anyone else, as Debbie was already pretty emotional.
The other two prisoners were then released, and Castle told Haddad that he made some calls to make sure that he would be able to see his mother before facing charges as he had traveled using a stolen passport. Afterwards, Castle praised Alexis for her quick thinking, and the two decided to spend their entire London trip together.
