According to the press release on Spoiler TV, this episode will focus on Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever),  a character that hasn’t been dwelt on as of late. In this episode, Ryan, who has moonlighted before, now gets himself embroiled in a conspiracy of sorts after a shooting incident occurs during a charity event, to the congressman whose security detail he was on. The promotional video, also released on Spoiler TV shows that he somehow gets accused of committing the act, as it was shown that he had to surrender to the police, with a gun in his hand.

In the first sneak peek released on Spoiler TV, Ryan is shown in the precinct, staring at the murder board, which held a picture of Carl Shelton and Eric Chambers. He then informed Esposito that something didn’t feel right about everything, even if they had caught the shooter, and even if Esposito reassured him that Eric Chambers would definitely give Carl Shelton up.

The second exclusive sneak peek was released on TV Line. In it, Kate and Castle went through the purse of their victim, Caroline Decker. Kate revealed that she had never been comfortable with looking through someone’s purse, and started questioning her own life, as Caroline had obviously made a difference in installing a good water system in Africa, as seen by the handwritten thank you note sent by a young African boy. She then discovered a second phone hidden within the bag, and on it, they found a “motive for murder”.

In the third, and short exclusive sneak peek on Spoiler TV, Ryan confronted a man in the audience of the charity event as he believed that he was going to pull out a gun from behind his coat jacket. He then had the man detained after discovering that he had been carrying around a bottle of blood.

In his interview with TV Line regarding the episode, Seamus Dever told them that they would be getting more insight into Ryan’s character as his older sister, Gwen (Heather Mazur), and her husband, Frank (David Conrad), will be making an appearance. Dever also went on to say that Frank, who had been a cop before, will advise Ryan on the perks of being in private security, and will make him question whether he wants to be a cop forever or not.

Also, he mentioned that for the second time in the run of the show, this upcoming episode will seem complex but will remain quite simple, as the entire episode will be dealt with in flashbacks.

With regards to the future of “Castle” and of the upcoming episodes, he assured TV Line that Castle’s mysterious disappearance at the beginning of the season will be dealt with in Season 7 Episode 20, but also told them that the question of whether or not there will be a Season 8 is still currently in the air.
