Yes, Firehouse 51 will  have a new candidate to come in October 2015 when the show returns for another season, in the person of an alumni from the CW show “The Vampire Diaries.” WARNING: This article may contain spoilers for the upcoming season of “Chicago Fire.” Read on to learn more about the newest addition to NBC’s “Chicago Fire.”

According to an exclusive report on The Hollywood Reporter, actor Steven R. McQueen, who is known for portraying Jeremy Gilbert on the CW show “The Vampire Diaries”, which he just left, will be heading over to the Windy City to become the newest candidate at Firehouse 51, named Jimmy Borelli.

The first candidate at Firehouse 51, when the series opened was Peter Mills (Charlie Barnett), who later on worked for the Rescue Squad, and as a paramedic on Ambulance 61. However, Mills is no longer part of the house as he moved with his mother and sister to start a restaurant with them.

He was then succeeded by former Ambulance 61 Paramedic in Charge Gabriella “Gabby” Dawson (Monica Raymund), who is currently a firefighter candidate on Truck 81, alongside former lover Lieutenant Matthew “Matt” Casey (Jesse Spencer).

Borelli, according to the report, will be making a lasting impression as he will have a dramatic entrance on his very first day at Firehouse 51 which will not make Chief Wallace Boden (Eammon Walker) happy.

This role, according to E! News, comes as a surprise to the actor’s fans, as McQueen has been very vocal about wanting to join one of the CW’s superhero shows after leaving the network’s “The Vampire Diaries”.
