Chloe Grace Moretz Denounces Gay Bullying, Plays Lesbian in The Miseducation of Cameron Post
Chloe Grace Moretz is playing a homosexual role in a new movie about gay conversion therapy. It is such a brave move from the wholesome image that she projects. But it is also an unconventional film that tackles a sensitive topic about sexuality.
Based on a novel with the same title written by Emily Danforth, it narrates the life of a young girl of 12. She lost her parents in a car crash just about the time she was discovering her true sexuality. Her conservative aunt sent her to a center for gay conversion therapy. The book sums up the young girl’s experiences as she undergoes the therapy. But the ending of the story tells of the triumph of homosexuality.
Attitude reported that it is a challenging process as it uses electro-shock treatments to induce nausea and shame. It is reportedly used to create hatred to same –sex attraction. As the title suggests, it is a process done to reverse one’s inclination toward the same sex.
What Is Gay Conversion Therapy?
Gay conversion therapy is a spiritual counseling process (re-education) and a form of psychological treatment to reverse a person’s sexual orientation. A gay will be “educated” to become a heterosexual. It is controversial but blatantly used in the present society.
This coming-of-age movie is under the helm of Desiree Akhavan who directed “Appropriate Behavior.” The movie is about the gays in Brooklyn.
Chloe Grace Moretz is a gay rights advocate because she has two practicing homosexual brothers. She was able to witness how they have been shamed and bullied when they were in high school. The novel ended with the homosexual clinging on to her sexuality, which is why she did the film.
Sasha Lane who is also a cast member of American Honey joins Chloe Grace Moretz in The Miseducation of Cameron Post. The movie would be released anytime next year.
