Chris Evans Willing To Extend Contract if MARVEL Allows
With superhero movies and with the MARVEL Cinematic Universe at its peak, and on its way towards its third phase, one big question that has got fans and viewers wondering is what the future of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe (MCU) will be like once the contracts of heavy hitters in the franchise, such as Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are up. For some, the appearance of Doctor Strange, the Black Panther and Captain Marvel may herald a new era of Avengers, but for actor Chris Evans, even though his time is almost up with MARVEL, in various and recent interviews, he has repeatedly mentioned that he would be willing to stay on if need be. Read on to learn more about what Chris Evans has to say about his contract with MARVEL.
With the third phase of the MCU not too far away, many often wonder how it will be like when the contracts of the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and the like are up.
One way to solve this is to gradually introduce audiences to a new set of “Avengers,” which they seem to be keen on doing, what with the introduction of key players such as the Falcon, the Scarlet Witch, War Machine, and in the future, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man and the Black Panther.
They could also always retain some of the “old guard,” and still continue to use the newer characters that are being introduced, much like how it is sometimes done in the comic books.
However, one thing is for sure, if MARVEL Studios lets Evans, who portrays everyone’s favorite Captain America, is more than willing to stay on beyond the terms of his original agreement.
According to a recent interview Evans did with Collider, he confirmed that his Captain America will be sticking around for two more movies: “Avengers: Infinity War Parts I & II.” Beyond that, things are pretty much in the air, but the actor expressed that he wanted to continue portraying Steve Rogers as much as MARVEL Studios would let him. He loves the fact that all of MARVEL’s movies are, to him, “playgrounds” for actors, a place where an actor can explore his character and play around with the character enough to make it his own.
Looking back to when he first signed on as Steve Rogers, he commented that he didn’t understand why he had been so reluctant and nervous at first and said that if he hadn’t signed on, he probably would have regretted it for the rest of his life.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor and “Before We Go” director mentioned that every MARVEL movie he makes is similar to going to high school- every time they finish wrapping a movie, he knows that it’s getting closer and closer to the finish line, and he’s terrified of letting it go, as he isn’t that ready yet to put down his shield.
During his interviews, he seemed optimistic about his future as the Avengers primary leader, as he mentioned in his interview with Collider that he has a good relationship with MARVEL Studios.
